From August to early September, the Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD) in cooperation with Project Management Boards in communes and town organized communication sessions on the introduction of the project “Associated agriculture for long-term income stabilization of ethnic minorities and equal integration in community development in Vietnam” (BMZ project) and prevention of the African swine fever epidemic in Ca Dy, Ta Bhing, Ta Po communes and Thanh My town, Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province.

There were 150 beneficiaries participated in the communication sessions. They are representatives of project beneficiary households including 8 livestock farming groups of Ca Dy, Ta Bhing, Ta Po communes and Thanh My town.

These communication sessions aimed to introduce the project to people and also equip them with information and knowledge about African swine fever (ASF) virus, re-herding regulations and animal status declaration in accordance with regulations of functional agencies.

In addition, knowledge about biosecurity in animal production, disinfection, isolation cages, etc is introduced to people to prevent the ASF virus. Local people was provided guidances in developing biosecurity plan in their farms according to current regulations of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Dvelopment of Quang Nam province.

The communication sessions were within the project “Associated agriculture for long-term income stabilization of ethnic minorities and equal integration in community development in Vietnam” funded by The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and World Vision Deutschland (WVD). The project is implemented in 5 communes and town of Nam Giang district, Quang Nam for 3 years from November 2019 to September 2022./.
