A sustainable rural society, where no poverty exists and people act responsibly toward the environment

Recently, successful prevention of numerous cases of illegal forest exploitation and encroachment has been considered as one of the outstanding results in forest management and development in Thuong Lo commune (Nam Dong district), as reported at the preliminary review meeting in the first six months of 2019 on June 19th.

Participants are the chairman of Thuong Lo Commune People’s Committee, representatives of Nam Dong Forest Protection Department, representatives of Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD) and 7 groups of households/communities.

During the meeting, representatives presented brief reports on their contributions on forest patrolling and forest violation cases, and reporting about the implementation of numerous communication campaigns on fire prevention and protection, etc. Based on these things, the consultant oriented the community to discuss solutions on using software in forest patrolling to achieve the effective management.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of communities and groups of forest protection and management of Thuong Lo commune signed a commitment document on forest protection and management.

The activity was jointly implemented by the project Strengthening the role of communities and civil society organizations in conservation activities in Thua Thien Hue province, the buffer zone of Bach Ma National Park. The project is coordinated by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Vietnam with the co-implementation of the Centre for Rural Development in Central Vietnam (CRD) and Thua Thien Hue Cooperative Alliance, and funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
