A sustainable rural society, where no poverty exists and people act responsibly toward the environment

The Center for Rural Development (CRD) of the University of Agriculture and Forestry hosted a “Scientific writing and research proposal development in agriculture” training session from 17 to 19 June 2024, in Hue city, Vietnam.

CRD organized a 3-day training course on “Scientific writing and research proposal development in Agriculture” for around 30 participants, coming from different universities in Vietnam and abroad, namely: Can Tho University, Tay Nguyen University, University of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Economic, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, National Institute of Animal Science, Ha Noi industry Textile Garment University, Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, and Kasetsart University (Thailand).

The goal was to consolidate and enhance knowledge and skills for researchers and lecturers in agriculture in the aim of documenting their research and developing research proposal using a specific format. Becoming more effective writers, trainees can access more easily to research funds from domestic or international donors to develop their original project.

Research proposals will be submitted for funding

The first section of the training activity provided knowledge and skills in developing research proposals, which included: identifying research objective, method, and research plan. After this section, the trainees presented a draft version of their research proposal and received comments from trainers and other groups of trainees. Their research proposal will be submitted for funds from the Vietnamese government in early 2025.

4 papers will be submitted

During the second section of training, the trainees learned how to structure the research article and to develop its various sections. They practiced by preparing the outline and draft of their own paper which was commented by trainers and other trainees.  At least 4 original papers will be submitted to a journal by the end of 2024.

The course was led by Professor Le Duc Ngoan, the former vice rector of the University of Agriculture and Forestry in Vietnam, who has a 40 year-experience in agricultural research.
